The farmers market created a natural space for conversation. Families and community members were already gathered in a relaxed public setting, making it easier to talk about real questions that come up around e-bikes: what riders should know before heading out, how parents can start the conversation at home, and what responsibility looks like when students ride near schools, sidewalks, roads, and shared spaces.

The conversation highlights why e-bike safety belongs in a broader discussion about responsibility, awareness, peer influence, and youth well-being.

The event showed how community organizations and local outreach can contribute to safer, healthier, and more informed communities.

Safer riding conversations do not have to happen only after a concern, complaint, or close call. They can happen at a farmers market, at a school table, during a community event, or anywhere families and students are already gathered.
When prevention and transportation safety come together, the message becomes stronger: understand the choice before the moment, understand the ride before the risk, and help young people build independence with awareness.
This outreach was part of Know Your Ride's community education work alongside Influence the Choice at the Sammamish Farmers Market. Know Your Ride attended to share educational information, listen to community questions, and support safer, more informed conversations around e-bikes and youth responsibility.
