FEATURED PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

Influence the Choice

Before the Ride, Choices Matter

E-bike safety is not only about the bike. It is also about the decisions a rider makes before and during every ride.

Safe riding requires more than knowing how to balance, steer, or operate a throttle. It depends on attention, judgment, reaction time, emotional control, and awareness of the people and spaces around you. Healthy choices help protect those abilities. When a young rider is distracted, exhausted, under pressure from friends, or not thinking clearly, even a familiar route can become riskier.

That is why e-bike safety and youth prevention belong in the same conversation. Both encourage young people to pause, understand the situation, think ahead, and make a responsible choice before the moment becomes unsafe.

SHARED PREVENTION GOAL

Helping young people make thoughtful choices before pressure, speed, distraction, or uncertainty turns into risk.

Influence the Choice works to support youth wellness through prevention, education, leadership, resilience, and positive community action. Through the TECH Youth Coalition, students are encouraged to develop their voices, promote healthy choices, and create meaningful change in their schools and communities.

Know Your Ride brings that same prevention mindset into everyday transportation. For a young rider, healthy decision-making may mean wearing a helmet, understanding the bike’s speed and features, choosing an appropriate route, refusing an unsafe passenger, slowing near people, putting away distractions, or having the confidence to make a different choice when friends encourage risky behavior.

Together, Influence the Choice and Know Your Ride can help young people look beyond rules alone and recognize how awareness, peer leadership, personal responsibility, and healthy choices shape every ride.

A safer ride starts before the wheels move.
